Alibaba claimed that its Wechat competitor Laiwang users had reached 10 million in only one month, and the number of Weitao mobile public accounts had reached 1 million on November 21 2013.
Laiwang is a Wechat like Instant Message mobile app, launched by Alibaba on September 23, 2013. Besides text and voice messages, Laiwang also supports message self-destruct after reading. It is the first product that is separate from e-commerce of Alibaba, and its core function is to realize the communication between acquaintances. What’s more, Laiwang connects users’ social contacts, daily life and consumption, to build a new wireless app scenario.
Alibaba CEO Zhaoxi Lu published the operating data of the main products in wireless in the past 30 days. He said, as a new product, Laiwang user amount had reached 10 million, the number of the daily active users had increased by 500%, and the special function Zhadui (resembling Wechat friend circle) user amount reached over 100,000.
The next version of Laiwang app would focus on improving voice functions. And Laiwang would enhance public account platform and open API access, customized public accounts settings and introducing QR code payment.
